Chris Steuber reports the Chargers will attend Saturday's game between NC State and Maryland. GM A.J. Smith is certainly very familiar with both programs, as he spent a 2004 first-round pick on NC State's Philip Rivers and a '05 first-rounder on Maryland's Shawne Merriman.
The Chargers have already sent a scout to at least one NC State game this season, the team's home opener against South Carolina.
DE Willie Young
College Football Network
A hybrid type of defender who may be classified as a tweener during the draft process, Young has outstanding quickness off the snap and always seems to be in the middle of the action. He uses his wingspan to his advantage to interfere with the opposition's passing game.
Despite not being the strongest player, Young plays with good balance and is a factor due to his rangy nature. He shows the ability to change direction with ease and makes tackles in pursuit. He has to play lower as he tends to get engulfed at the line of scrimmage.
Young is currently the 12th rated defensive end by Scout.com.
Maryland, on the other hand, only has one player in Scout.com's NFL Draft Rankings: FB Cory Jackson (6-foot-1, 245 pounds), who is ranked fifth at his position.
