...unrestricted free agent wide receiver David Boston has cancelled his trip to Baltimore and will stay in San Diego to attempt to complete a deal with the team.
Baltimore was said to be ready with a six year $36 million dollar deal although that has not been confirmed.
The Chargers have had David Boston in since Monday and he has spent his time with a number of people within the Chargers organization.
Drew Brees drove down from his house when he heard he was in town on Monday. Wide receivers coach James Lofton, offensive coordinator Cam Cameron met with him on Tuesday. Marty Schottenheimer has been in on the discussion constantly, and LaDainian Tomlinson took him to lunch on Tuesday.
General Manager John Butler met with Boston and his agent last night.
The Chargers are committed to getting a No. 1 receiver after releaseing Curtis Conway last week. Boston fills that role and more. At 24 he would form a nucleus with LT (24), and Brees (24) rivaling the big three of Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin and Troy Aikmen during their hayday.
The source also stated the sides were close to a deal and the numbers look to be in the $25 million dollar range.
