In a game that looker very similar to the Chiefs week three win against San Francisco, Kansas City fell behind 3-0 then outscored the visiting Cardinals 31-10 the rest of the game. In fact, had it not been for a last second touchdown, the disparity in the score would have been greater.
But this win proved vital to the Chiefs chances to make the post season. As they were whipping up on the Cardinals, the Oakland Raiders imploded at Pittsburgh losing to the Steelers, 35-3.
The Chiefs now stand alone in the AFC West and likely will have a strong interest in the Monday Night matchup that has the Denver Broncos traveling to San Diego, to face the red hot Chargers.
On Sunday afternoon, Chiefs Quarterback Matt Cassel had another strong game. On the day he was 15 of 24 for 193 and two touchdowns. Both end zone plays were to Dwayne Bowe, who now has 11 on the season. In the process, he broke a team touchdown record set by Chris Buford and Otis Taylor.
Bowe has now caught one touchdown in five straight games. At this pace, it's likely he'll will make his first trip to Hawaii. There might not be a hotter receiver in the NFL right now than Bowe. Though, he's not in jeopardy of breaking Randy Moss's singe season record of 23, the four year receiver is coming into his own. But with six games left in the season he and Cassel continue to put up big numbers/ That's a good sign for this offense.
Defensively the Chiefs forced Cardinals Quarterback Derek Anderson to throw the ball 46 times. He completed 25 of them but had lots of help from his acrobatic set of receivers led by Steve Breaston and Larry Fitzgerald. The two combined for 11 catches, 182 yards receiving and a touchdown.
Next up for the Chiefs is a road contest at Seattle. For more on this game, stay tuned to Warpaint Illustrated.com for our post game analysis.
