Week #1 @ Houston Texans - The Texans might be the most improved team in the AFC in 2015. In fact, they appear to be the only team in the division that might give the Indianapolis Colts a run for the division title. This isn’t the best place for the Chiefs to start the season.
Week #2 vs. Denver Broncos - The Chiefs have just one home game in September and that will be against their toughest division rival, the Denver Broncos. The caveat for this contest is the game will be in primetime on Thursday night and I think the Chiefs are overdue to defeat Peyton Manning and company.
Week #3 @ Green Bay Packers - This Monday Night contest features the combatants from Super Bowl 1. Though the Chiefs have played well in Green Bay, the last two times they were at Lambeau Field, Kansas City might not have the horses to win this road contest.
Week #4 @ Cincinnati Bengals - Even though they’ve struggled in the post season the Bengals are a terrific home team. However, they go as Quarterback, Andy Dalton goes and let’s hope he has an off day. I’m not optimistic the Chiefs can get it done because it’s not a place that’s been kind to this team since their AFL days.
Week #5 vs. Chicago Bears - Finally back at home the Chiefs face the Bears in what should be a golden opportunity to win one in front of the home crowd. They have instability at quarterback and a new head coach that could help Kansas City notch their second home win of the season.
Week #6 @ Minnesota Vikings - I think you have to go back to Metropolitan Stadium to find a Chiefs team that won a football game in the Twin Cities. The Vikings have talent but Kansas City will be playing their fourth road game to date. I’m not sold on Vikings Quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater but that doesn’t mean he can’t defeat the Chiefs.
Week #7 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers - The Todd Haley reunion tour comes to Arrowhead. For the most part, Kansas City generally plays well against the Steelers on their home turf. I expect nothing less this go round and what will be a payback game from last season when Kansas City lost at Pittsburgh knocking them out of the playoffs.
Week #8 vs. Detroit Lions - This will be the first time the Chiefs (and hopefully the last as a home team) will travel to London to play a regular season game. The Lions are a good team with talent on both sides of the ball. If the Chiefs are going to give something back to their fan base, they’ll have to play their best game of the season to date.
Week #9 BYE WEEK
Week #10 @ Denver Broncos - The Chiefs played well in Denver the last two years but never seem to get the job done. If Peyton Manning is healthy for game two in this 2015 series, he’ll lead his team to a big win and the Chiefs will have to hope he doesn’t come back in 2016.
Week #11 @ San Diego Chargers Last year the Chiefs took a pair of games from the Chargers. At press time, there were still rumblings San Diego might trade star Quarterback, Philip Rivers. Either way, I give the edge to the Chiefs for this Sunday Night Primetime showdown between old AFC West rivals.
Week #12 vs. Buffalo Bills - Over the last decade these teams have played some wild games. However, the AFC East team has owned the Chiefs at Arrowhead. It’s not a trap game anymore unless the Bills don’t solve their quarterback issues from a year ago. If they have, it’ll come down to the final series of the fourth quarter.
Week #13 @ Oakland Raiders - The wheels fell off the 2014 season when the Chiefs laid an egg on their only Thursday night appearance of the season a year ago. The loss showed some serious flaws on the sidelines and the playing field. Oakland is improved and they should have the edge in this game. However, perhaps Reid has learned some valuable lessons about this rivalry and he’ll prevail.
Week #14 vs. San Diego Chargers - If my predictions merit any reality, the Chiefs already have defeated the Chargers once this season. However, doing it twice won’t be an easy task. However, I think Andy Reid coaches best against the San Diego Chargers. I’m thinking sweep!
Week #15 @ Baltimore Ravens - In what could be a battle for a post-season birth, the Ravens are one of the best December teams in football. The last two seasons the Chiefs have fallen to pieces in December. Though the Ravers had some roster turnover in the off-season, they still have mister reliable in Quarterback, Joe Flacco.
Week #16 vs. Cleveland Browns - I don’t think even the best NFL prognosticator could predict which Browns Quarterback will be starting this game or if former Chiefs Wide Receiver, Dwayne Bowe, will have a touchdown catch for his new team at this point of the season. Either way I think this will be a wild finish but the good guys should prevail.
Week #17 vs. Oakland Raiders - Another team that loves to play at Arrowhead. In this game, the Chiefs could be facing playoff elimination, playing out the string or a division title. Who knows how important this game will be when these two AFC West rivals collide. The only thing that’s certain about this game is the fact it’ll be Raiders week in Kansas City.
