With rumors running rampant on Sunday that the Kansas City Chiefs were on the verge of trading veteran defensive end Vonnie Holliday to the Tennessee Titans, the Chiefs instead received two 2005 draft picks (5th & 6th) from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for R-Kal Truluck.
A Chiefs source told Warpaint Illustrated that the Holliday rumors had no merit. The former Arena League MVP, Truluck seemed to be the odd man out with the development of rookie defensive end Jared Allen.
The Chiefs wanted to get some value for a player of Truluck's ability. R-Kal had a slow start to training camp but heated up after a foot injury that limited him in the first exhibition game.
However it was obvious that the Chiefs were going to count on Jared Allen this year and with Truluck on the roster limited to only passing situations; it made sense to ship him off to another team.
In other news, the Chiefs will not be placing tight end Kris Wilson on injured reserve. For now Wilson will remain on the roster and it appears that he could rejoin the Chiefs later in the season.
The roster cuts will be announced shortly.
