Day 3: Training Camp Quick Hitters (PM Practice)

This afternoon was a spirited practice with both the offense and defense alternating good plays. Overall, the defense was a little better, but the offense did a nice job, and first team offense in particular looks sharp. On an all out blitz, the first team picked it up beautifully.

The linebackers and running backs combined for pass protection drills. Linebacker Quentin Caver and running backs Ronnie Cruz and Dee Brown were stand outs with there aggressive play. Fullback Tony Richardson looked really good too, and wasn't shy at all about putting his nose in against the linebackers.

Linebacker Kris Griffin filled in for Kendrell Bell at the first team right linebacker position. He looked aggressive and really stood out with some good play, he was disruptive and laid some pretty good hits.

Defensive Tackle Junior Siavii did a great job today, plugging up the middle very well and was in on two sacks.

Defensive end Jared Allen had a nice day, applying pressure at times and getting high up to bat a ball down.

Cornerback Dexter McCleon continued to prove he belongs with the ones, with some nice coverage on several of the Chiefs wide receivers. It's still early, but it's beginning to look like last season's performance had more to do with his shoulder injury and less with diminishing skills.

Tight end Willie Walden had a few nice catches today.

The first team offense did well in goal line drills today. Tight Tony Gonzalez burned Kris Griffin for a deep touchdown in the corner. Running back Larry Johnson also scored a touchdown up the middle on a tough run.

Cornerback Eric Warfield continues to play well despite limited reps. It's a good sign that he's able to focus and make the most of his opportunities.

Linebacker Keyaron Fox is trying to put a stranglehold on the left linebacker spot. He's getting to the ball, and doing a nice job in pass coverage. Fox tipped one pass intended that quarterback tried to sneak over him.

Running back Priest Holmes looks like he's not suffering any of the effects of last year's injury. He ripped off several nice runs today.
