The rumor last week was that the 39-year old would sign with the Atlanta Falcons, after they traded backup quarterback Matt Schaub to the Houston Texans, creating a vacancy behind starter Michael Vick. But apparently Falcons GM Rich McKay soured on the prospect and George went looking for another team.
With trade rumors circulating around Chiefs quarterback Trent Green, and Kansas City in dire need of an experienced third quarterback, George fits the bill.
A source at Arrowhead Stadium said Saturday that George still had "Plenty of arm left," and was "itching to return to the NFL with any team." He was disappointed after not throwing a single pass while with the Seahawks and Bears from 2002-2005.
After enjoying superior offensive line protection at Warren Central High School in Indiana, George attended Illinois University and was eventually drafted number one overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 1990. He also played for the Falcons, Raiders, Vikings, Redskins, Seahawks and Bears, throwing for 154 touchdowns and over 27,000 yards.
