Instant Analysis: GVS CB Brandon Carr

NFL Experts Analyst Tom Marino and Warpaint Publisher Nick Athan offer instant analysis on the Chiefs fifth-round pick, cornerback Brandon Carr.

Instant Analysis: Tom Marino

Brandon Carr is a guy that has every single physical quality you want. The biggest thing that he lacks is instincts. He does not have great football instincts. He's got a great athletic body, he runs very well, and he's aggressive. But he doesn't have great ball skills and doesn't know the game. He's just a raw talent that the Chiefs will hopefully be able to develop over time.

Instant Analysis: Nick Athan

This is a player that is going to need a lot of seasoning. The last time the Chiefs drafted a corner in the fifth round was back in 2006, when they took the University of Miami's Marcus Maxey. That didn't work out well. However, the problem with Carr is that he's trying to go from Division II to the NFL. It's not an easy road and he'll need some tough love and coaching from Chiefs defensive backs coach David Gibbs. It'll be up to him to get Carr up to NFL speed. Of all the picks this draft, Carr might truly be categorized as a project with big upside.

Pre-Draft Analysis:

Not highly rated, but had great speed. Will have a big learning curve at the next level. Top Stories
