Giants Mock Draft: Round One

The Giants Beat writers state their case for who the New York Giants should select at No. 18 overall in the 2014 NFL draft.

Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina

Seth Kornfield | The Giants Beat contributor

Ebron gives the Giants a pass catching tight end with the ability to spread the field while providing them a red-zone target they sorely missed in 2013. The UNC product caught 62 passes for 973 yards last season while scoring three touchdowns

Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

Thomas Kim, The Giants Beat Contributor

A potential top 10 pick, offensive tackle Taylor Lewan was named the Big Ten's offensive lineman of the year for the past two seasons. With Eli Manning taking 39 sacks and recording a league high 27 interceptions last year, the addition of Lewan to the Big Blue offensive line would help provide some much needed pass protection.

Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA

Haneef Arbubakrr | The Giants Beat contributor

The Giants need to increase their depth at the linebacker position. New York can get younger and add insurance as several of its current linebackers have had their share of injuries. Barr can help the Giants improve their pass rush to that of years past. Barr is one of the best at getting after the quarterback in this year's draft.

Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M

Steven Bassin | The Giants Beat contributor

Evans is one of the best wide receivers in this year's draft, earning First team All SEC and All American honors during his 2013 season at Texas A&M. He's is a big, strong, and very athletic player, who will help provide the Giants a true number one receiver type option in their offense and another big time playmaker. With Hakeem Nicks gone, the Giants only other number one type receiver is Rueben Randle. With the addition of Evans, the Giants will have a great receiving core with him and Randle on the outside, and Victor Cruz and Jerrel Jernigan in the slot. If Evans is available when the Giants pick, the G-Men need to take him with the No. 12 overall pick overall

C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama

Majid Rahmat | The Giants Beat contributor

Tom Coughlin loves his linebackers, it's a major reason he has two rings. The Giants D was soft last year and the biggest knock on Mosley is his lack of discipline, something Coughlin specializes in instilling.
