Colts tailgating with Dan Cole: Seafood boil

The Patriots were in town Sunday, which meant Colts tailgater Dan Cole cooked up his New England Seafood Boil.

The Indianapolis Colts-New England Patriots game didn’t turn out nearly as well as the tailgating on Sunday night.

In Tailgate Alley on West Merrill Street, longtime Colts fan Dan Cole, 53, Madison, Ind., cooked up his New England Seafood Boil with the Patriots in town. Diehard tailgaters cater the menu to the opponent.

Cole did some Internet research to come up with his boil: two kinds of sausage, shrimp, potatoes, tomatoes, corn, garlic, onions, clams, chicken broth and Old Bay seasoning. He said it’s mostly Old Bay’s recipe.

One deviation is he uses Andouille sausage.

“I like the cajun. I like the kick a little bit better,” Cole said. “I like to kick it up a notch or three.

“It’s Dan good!”

The Colts lost 42-20 to the Patriots, so the tailgate was the best part of the night for these true blue fans. Cole and his friends enjoy parties before each home game and make select road trips.

Sunday night’s game was special with two disc jockeys blasting music, strobe lights flashing, and that delectable main dish.
