Stuart Mann keeps an Indianapolis Colts tailgating tradition alive at the corner of West and South Streets, about a block from Lucas Oil Stadium.
Fans started enjoying great tailgate food prepared in a smoker provided by Matt “Bubba” Hoffman, who now lives in Evansville and only makes it back for a few games.
What started in the old South Lot, where the current stadium is now located, has continued in this spot since 2005.
“I’m just following the tradition of my great teacher, Matt ‘Bubba’ Hoffman,” Mann said before Sunday’s game, a Colts 23-3 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Because the Jaguars were in town, the main course was “Cat Stir Fry,” or “Kitty Stir Fry,” which tastes like chicken (which it is).
Asked if it’s one of his best tailgating dishes, Mann says with a smile, “It’s one of my healthier ones.”
