Combine includes some comic relief

Sometimes it wasn't exactly intentional, but NFL general managers and coaches provided a few laughs at the lectern.

The annual NFL Scouting Combine didn’t come and go from Lucas Oil Stadium without a few laughs at the lectern.

Comic relief included just talking about the weather — which might explain why Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has an affinity for Kangol hats?

New Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan, always a media darling, seemed to enjoy talking more about baseball than football. Blame it on getting up at 4 a.m. for an early flight that same day.

St. Louis Rams general manager Les Snead provided a history lesson on the man who discovered a cure for syphilis.

If Rams coach Jeff Fisher says he doesn’t know something, honestly, he swears he’s telling the truth.

And Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy wasn’t trying to be funny when pestered by fantasy football writers about running back Eddie Lacy supposedly being a slow starter, but his responses were amusing to say the least. Not that he was all that amused.

Perhaps NFL Films should consider a “Best of” video of the general managers and head coaches who contributed material at the combine.
