Erik Walden injured in domestic incident

Outside linebacker's ex-girlfriend allegedly slashes him in the arm with knife, breaks the arm of Walden's female companion with a baseball bat, according to Braselton, Ga., police.

The ex-girlfriend and mother of Erik Walden’s two children allegedly slashed the Indianapolis Colts outside linebacker in the arm with a knife and broke the arm of his female companion in a Saturday night attack in Braselton, Ga., according to police and a report by WXIA-TV in Atlanta.

The domestic incident could have been far worse. Erica Palmer was armed with the player’s gun, which he wrestled away from her, according to the TV report. She allegedly used a baseball bat to break the arm of Walden’s female companion and then fled.

Palmer returned as Walden was taking his companion to the hospital and allegedly cut Walden’s arm with a knife before running away again, according to the police report.

Walden was treated and released at a hospital, the TV station reported.

Police tracked Palmer’s cellphone to a hotel, where she was arrested. She’s being held without bail on two counts of aggravated assault, family violence aggravated assault, theft by taking and first-degree burglary.

Walden’s two children, who were in Palmer’s car when the alleged attacks occurred, were placed in his care, according to police.

Palmer suspected Walden was seeing another woman, according to police, and allegedly parked her car outside the home and entered through the back door. When Walden and his companion arrived, she confronted them.

Walden had a career-high six sacks and a team-best 18 quarterback hurries in his second season with the Colts. The eighth-year pro has also played with Green Bay, Miami and Kansas City.
