Aaron Morgan placed on retired list

Linebacker appeared in 18 NFL games, but none for Colts.

Outside linebacker Aaron Morgan has informed the Indianapolis Colts he wants to retire from the NFL.

Fans probably won’t recognize the name because Morgan never played a game for the Colts. He signed a reserve/future contact on Dec. 31, 2013, but spent 2014 on injured reserve.

The team announced Monday he had been placed on the reserve/retired list.

Morgan did play in 18 career NFL games with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2010-12) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012). He made six solo tackles and two special-teams stops.

He originally signed as an underrated free agent with the Jaguars in 2010 and was waived during the 2012 season. The Buccaneers signed him to their practice squad and he was elevated to the active roster that season. Tampa Bay waived him at the start of the 2013 season.
