The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday their 3rd annual Colts 5K Run/Walk for Saturday, Aug. 22, at Lucas Oil Stadium as part of kickoff activities for the 2015 season.
The event, in partnership with Indiana University Health, is now acceptation registration at www.colts.com/run. A Kids’ Play 60 Fun Run will also be part of the day’s activities.
Early registration pricing is available through June 30, including $35 for the 5K and $15 for the Kids’ Fun Run. A portion of the race proceeds will benefit Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health.
The 2014 event brought nearly 2,800 runners and walkers to the stadium. The event was created to allow fans to share in the glory of the gridiron while supporting a healthy and active lifestyle by completing a 5K run/walk.
“This August as we celebrate the return of football season, we are excited to once again offer our 5K Run/Walk for fans to enjoy in Downtown Indianapolis,” said Stephanie Pemberton, Indianapolis Colts senior director of marketing. “Through our partnership with Indiana University Health, this event provides a great opportunity for Colts Nation to get active while having fun and finishing the route on the fifty yard line at Lucas Oil Stadium.”
Event day registration opens at 6 a.m. at the stadium with the race to begin at 8 a.m. Free parking is available in the South Lot of the venue, 500 S. Capitol Ave.
The event is also supported in part by LIDS Sports Group, CBS-4, Gatorade and Piazza Produce.
“Improving the health of the community is central to the mission at IU Health,” said Richard Chadderton, senior vice president of engagement and public affairs at Indiana University Health. “This event offers a great way for Hoosiers to support the Colts and participate in fun physical activity.”
