Training camp schedule announced

Colts plan for 11 public practices at Anderson University.

The Indianapolis Colts will have 11 public practices in August’s training camp at Anderson University, the team has announced on its Web site, Colts.com.

Players report Aug. 1, and the first workout in front of fans is the next day from 1:55 to 4:40 p.m. (approximately). That’s the usual afternoon practice time. The lone exception is Aug. 5, when the team will have its annual night practice from 6:25 to 9:10 p.m.

The team will have regular afternoon workouts Aug. 2-4, 7-10, 12-14. Training camp has been reduced one week so the team can scrimmage with the Chicago Bears the next week after breaking camp.

As usual, the team’s Colts City will provide a fun, interactive area for fans. It will be open adjacent to the practice begins from Aug. 2-14 and include Colts inflatables, Play 60 Zone, Colts cheerleaders autographs, Colts Pro Shop, concessions and interactive booths.

The Colts will have theme days beginning on Aug. 2, Kids Day presented by Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University. In honor of mascot Blue’s 10th season, concessions will be discounted for children. All Colts Kids Club members can participate in a scavenger hunt for the chance to win Colts tickets and other prizes. To become a member, log onto Colts.com/kids.

BBQ Bash at Training Camp is Aug. 5 with a barbecue during the team’s evening practice. BBQ concession items, a full-squad Colts cheerleader performance and live music inside Colts City are planned.

Armed Forces Day presented by BOSE is Aug. 8 with members of the Armed Forces invited to attend. The day is dedicated to the mean and women who have served or are currently serving in the military. Discounted parking and concession will be offered to military members with a military ID.

Community Take Back Day presented by the Indiana Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force is Aug 9. The Colts are teaming up with the Office of the Indiana Attorney General for a prescription drug take back event. Fans bringing unused or expired Rx prescriptions for safe disposal will be given a complimentary copy of the 2014 Colts highlight DVD “Knocking on the Door.” For a list of permanent Rx Take Back locations, visit www.in.gov/bitterpill/safe_storage.

Colts seat cushions, while supplies last, will be given to fans who make a Goodwill donation. Collection will be at the parking lot entrance. Gently used clothing, toys and housewares are among the items accepted. Cash donations will not be taken. One free seat cushion is given per donation, per family, per day.

A new bag policy will be in effect as the team observes the NFL Stadium Security Policy, which means the size and type of bags will be limited, including at Colts City. Permissible bags are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12,” including one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags as well as small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap. An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the entry gate.

Parking is $5 per vehicle and $20 for busses. Lots are scheduled to open at 10:30 a.m. daily, except for Aug. 5, when they will open at 3 p.m. Parking is subject to change.
