Indianapolis Colts fans looking to visit Anderson University for training camp in the next two weeks should plan their experience with some local knowledge.
Here’s an informational sheet on what to know and do when taking in Colts camp.
First things first, enter Anderson University on University Boulevard.
Anderson University charges $5 per vehicle or $20 per bus for parking. The lots open at 10:30 a.m. daily, except Wednesday, Aug. 5, when the lot opens at 3 p.m. because the team has a night practice.
Be prepared to walk to get to the practice field. Fans are encouraged to hydrate in advance of attending, especially on days when the forecast is for humid weather with high temperatures.
The Colts’ first practice is Sunday at 1:55 p.m. Most of the workouts — 10 of the 11 scheduled — are from 1:55 to 4:40 p.m. The schedule can change due to weather.
The first practice is also Kids Day presented by Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health. The Colts will celebrate BLUE’s 10th season with the team by offering discounted concessions for kids. All Colts Kids Club Members will have the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt for the chance to win Colts tickets and other prizes. To become a member of the Colts Kids Club, visit Colts.com/kids.
The lone night practice is Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 6:25 to 9:10 p.m. The Colts will host a BBQ Bash during the evening practice at Training Camp. The evening will include BBQ concession items, a full-squad Colts Cheerleader performance, live music inside Colts City and more.
Per CBA rules, the team isn’t permitted to participate in full pads until the fourth day of on-field work, which is also the night practice.
The Aug. 8 practice is Armed Forces Day presented by BOSE. Members of the Armed Forces are invited to attend camp for a day dedicated to the men and women who have served or are currently serving in our military. Discounted parking and concessions will be offered for military members who present a military ID.
Sunday’s Aug. 9 workout is Community Take Back Day presented by the Indiana Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force. The Colts are teaming up with the Office of the Indiana Attorney General for a prescription drug take back event. Fans that bring unused or expired Rx prescriptions for safe disposal will be given a complimentary copy of the 2014 Colts highlight DVD titled “Knocking on the Door.” For a list of permanent Rx Take Back locations, visit www.in.gov/bitterpill/safe_storage.
Fans are encouraged to bring their own Sharpie pens for autographs. Select players visit with fans after each practice.
The NFL bag policy is in effect, which includes for Colts City outside the practice field. Permissible bags are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12 inches by six inches by 12 inches, including one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags. Small clutch bags, about the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap are allowed. An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the entry gate.
Several restaurants are near the university.
Colts City includes interactive inflatables, sponsor booths, social media tent presented by Coke, giveaways and register-to-win ticket opportunities, Colts In Motion traveling museum, Play 60 Zone, Colts Pro Shop, Colts cheerleaders appearances and concessions.
Fans can receive a Colts seat cushion courtesy Goodwill if they make a donation to the Goodwill collection box at the entrance of the camp parking lot.
