ColtPower has learned that offensive tackle David Porter out of Iowa has been added to the roster. He was signed as a free agent out of NFL Europe after just completing his season as the starting left tackle for the Berlin Thunder.
Porter weighs in at 311 pounds and is 6'6, making him comparable in size to starting offensive tackle Ryan Diem (6'6, 320). At Iowa, he was co-MVP on the offense and was selected to go to the Hula Bowl. Porter received high ratings coming out of college for his pass protection skills. After the 2003 draft, he was signed as a free agent by the Green Bay Packers but didn't make the team.
Porter played for the Berlin Thunder this year as a free agent not affiliated with any NFL team. He was the Thunder's fifth selection in the offseason draft.
In another roster move, the Colts waived WR Kerry Wright out of Middle Tennessee State on Friday. He was more likely to make the roster as a kickoff and punt returns specialist than as a wide receiver, but the Colts have other options at those special teams positions.
