Colts cornerback Donald Strickland saw his season come to an end today as the Colts placed him on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury.
Strickland becomes the second Colt to see his season end prematurely due to a hamstring problem. Linebacker Rocky Calmus had surgery yesterday to repair a torn hamstring.
"He hurt his hamstring again and with the situation we're in, we had to do something to get a couple of people here," head coach Tony Dungy said. "It seemed like that was the best thing to do."
Strickland led the Colts secondary in tackles against the Ravens with six, and got credit for three passes defensed. He missed time during the preseason due to his hamstring and was even listed as "probable" on last week's injury report.
After being drafted in 2003, Strickland missed the first five games due to an offseason injury. Last year, he played four games at right cornerback before a shoulder injury pushed him onto the injured reserve list for the season.
In other roster moves, the Colts signed defensive tackle Jason Stewart. He had a solid training camp with the Colts this year and had spent time on the practice squad last season. Stewart was released in the final round of cuts earlier this month.
As ColtPower projected yesterday, the Colts signed guard Matt Ulrich to the practice squad. Ulrich was waived on Tuesday due to the reactivation of safety Mike Doss to the roster.
The Colts also added linebacker Jonathan Goddard to the practice squad. ColtPower will follow up with a story on Goddard this evening.
