RB Anthony Davis Returns to Colts

The Colts re-signed 7th-round draft pick, running back Anthony Davis and placed him on their practice squad.

In an effort to boost their depth at the running back position, the Colts signed former draft pick Anthony Davis to their practice squad, despite cutting him in the first round of training camp cuts this summer.

To make room for Davis, the Colt released defensive end Gabe Nyenhuis who had previously been released by the Atlanta Falcons in their final round of cuts.

The Colts are expected to add a running back to their active roster this week, especially one that could help them with their kickoff returns. Dominic Rhodes, who usually handles that duty and is the primary backup to Edgerrin James, is expected to miss this weekend's game due to a shoulder injury. Fullback James Mungro will also miss the game due to a knee injury.

That leaves just James and Ran Carthon as the only healthy running backs on the Colts roster. One likely candidate was Broncos running back Quentin Griffin who had a workout in recent weeks with the Colts. But after Denver saw the Colts' injury situation from Sunday, they re-signed him to keep him out of Indianapolis' hands.
