PASSING OFFENSE: A
QB Peyton Manning was very nearly perfect in the win over Tennessee, completing 20-of-27 passes for 264 yards, four
touchdowns and no interceptions. Manning did a good job of spreading the ball around, hitting six different receivers, while posting a 144.1
quarterback efficiency rating. WR Marvin Harrison had his 48th career 100-yard receiving game, catching nine passes for 109 yards and two
TDs. The Colts did not give up a sack for the fourth straight week.
RUSHING OFFENSE: A-
RB Edgerrin James didn't go over the 100-yard mark, but the Colts managed to move the ball on the ground when they
needed to, with the exception of one red-zone opportunity, when Indianapolis was forced to settle for a field goal. James had 90 yards
on 21 carries.
PASS DEFENSE: B+
Yes, Titans QB Steve McNair completed 28-of-37 passes for 220 yards. But the Colts kept Tennessee out of the end zone
until there were four minutes remaining in the game and with the outcome already decided. Indianapolis sacked McNair twice and picked him off
RUSH DEFENSE: A
For the fourth straight week, the Colts did not allow a 100-yard rusher. Indianapolis limited Titans RB Chris Brown to
just 31 yards on 10 carries. McNair ran for 40 yards on three scrambles and one designed bootleg. As a team, Tennessee had 109 yards rushing.
SPECIAL TEAMS: B
On the plus side, K Mike Vanderjagt was successful on his only field goal opportunity, hitting from 20 yards out, and P Hunter Smith punted twice for a 45-yard net average. On the minus side, kickoff specialist Dave Rayner was inconsistent, as was the punt
and kickoff coverage.
The Colts coaching staff did a commendable job of coming up with a flexible gameplan that evolved as the game progressed.
Offensively, Indianapolis went away from a three wide receiver set and went instead to two tight ends, which limited what Tennessee could do
defensively. From a defensive point of view, the Colts bent at times but did not break, not allowing the Titans to come up with a big play.
