The Colts waived defensive back Daryl Dixon and linebacker Deryck Toles, making both of them free agents.
Dixon was originally signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Florida in April, 2004. But he was released in mid-June last year. He returned to the Colts for this year's training camp after a stint in NFL Europe, where he missed 4 weeks due to a knee injury. The Colts placed him on their exempt NFL Europe injured list in July.
Dixon was then hampered by a thigh injury and ended up on the Colts' Reserve/Non-Football Injury list. He remained there until the Colts requested waivers on him this week.
Toles, a former Penn State linebacker, was just signed by the Colts in April of 2005. But he never got into action with them due to a sports hernia injury that landed him on reserved/injured list. Toles has been going through his rehab regimen near his home in Ohio. He spent time on the Falcons and Browns practice squads last year.
