Colts linebacker Mike Labinjo, who was added to the active roster on December 8th, was waived by the Colts so they could promote LB Johnathan Goddard. Labinjo was subsequently claimed off of the waiver wire by the Miami Dolphins. Goddard has been on the Colts practice squad since mid-September.
The move makes sense over the long haul for the Colts as Goddard is an outside linebacker that they can get a glimpse at in today's game against Arizona. Labinjo is primarily a middle linebacker, and the Colts have Gary Brackett, Rob Morris, and rookie Tyjuan Hagler -- who is currently on injured reserve, yet healthy -- on their depth chart at that position.
With Goddard's practice squad spot vacant, the Colts re-signed kicker Dave Rayner and added him to the 8-man squad. They had waived him back on December 21st when they added Jose Cortez to the roster to handle kickoff duties.
