Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison will be one of over 20 NFL players who
will participate in the first annual Pro Football Camp. The camp will be held
from July 10th - 14th at Avenel Park in Potomac, Maryland.
The camp's organizers, M&B Sports Marketing, LLC stated in a press release that to the best of their knowledge no other youth sports camp features hands-on involvement by this many NFL players. They are expecting 1,500 participants between the ages of 7-17. The lineup of participating players will change daily depending on players' schedules.
One charitable aspect of the camp is that the organizers have pledged to make camp scholarships available to youngsters from the Gulf states who were forced to relocate to the D.C. area due to Hurricane Katrina. Those efforts are being coordinated through the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
Other players expected to attend include: Tony Dorsett, Dallas Cowboys and NFL Hall of Fame 1994; Clinton Portis, Santana Moss, Sean Taylor, Carlos Rogers, Derrick Dockery, Randy Thomas and John Hall, Washington Redskins; Shawne Merriman, San Diego Chargers; Trent Green, Kansas City Chiefs; Larry Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs; Byron Leftwich, Jacksonville Jaguars; Chad Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals; Warrick Dunn, Atlanta Falcons; DeAngelo Hall, Atlanta Falcons; Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins; Takeo Spikes, Buffalo Bills; Eric King, Buffalo Bills; Thomas Davis, Carolina Panthers; and Kerry Rhodes, New York Jets.
