The Buzz: Colts Workout QB from the West

ColtPower has learned from one of our sources that the Colts sent staff out west for a personal tryout with a quarterback draft prospect.

With just two quarterbacks on the roster, the Colts are in search of young talent at the position this year. But will they use a mid-round pick on a quarterback who could replace Jim Sorgi at the end of the year since he's in the last year of his contract? Or will they simply strive to replace Tom Arth, who was on the practice squad as the team's third quarterback?

According to TFY Draft Preview here at Scout.com, the Colts sent a staff out to Wyoming for a personal workout with their quarterback, Corey Bramlet. The younger brother of former Bengals quarterback Casey Bramlet, our source tells us that the Colts see Corey capable of being a practice squad player who could intelligently breakdown film for Peyton Manning, just as Tom Arth had done before leaving for a new opportunity with Green Bay. Meanwhile, Bramlett -- who was not an invitee to this year's Combine -- would benefit from having some time to learn some better deep-passing technique to round out his skill set.

Below Bramlet's picture, take a look at what our experts at TFY Draft Preview had to say about him:

Full Name: Corey Bramlet School: Wyoming Pos: QB

Ht: 6-4 Wt: 213 40: 4.65 Year: 5Sr

Bio: Two-year starter who passed for 59.6% completion percent, 2,610 yards, 16 TD's, 18 INT as a senior.

Pos: Solid short-area passer with good intangibles. Sells the ball fakes, displays a good sense of timing and knows where receivers are on the field. Patient and always working to make something positive happen.

Neg: Lacks top arm strength and must put a lot of effort to get velocity on throws. Marginal skills scrambling to avoid the rush.

Analysis: After a productive junior campaign, Bramlet did not capitalize as a senior. Potential practice squad material.
