Colts Visits Update: One Added, One Cancelled

One player who was widely reported as being slated for a visit to Indy didn't make the trip after all. And a new name popped up just this week that will result in a visit late Wednesday and Thursday by a wide receiver from the east.

ColtPower learned Tuesday evening that USC defensive tackle LaJuan Ramsey won't be making a pre-draft visit to the Colts after all. Although he had been invited to Indianapolis, he learned after his return from three other visits last week that the Colts felt they had learned enough about him to evaluate him without the official visit.

Ramsey, who is a determined, blue-collar type of player who contributes to a team in many ways, visited with the Jaguars, Rams and Eagles back-to-back last week. Later this week we'll have a two-part feature on him as a player who is still undoubtedly on the Colts' radar.

Just this week, Maryland wide receiver Danny Melendez learned that he would be visiting the Colts. Melendez was scheduled for a visit with the Chiefs on Tuesday and Wednesday, but will now fly directly from Kansas City to Indianapolis on Wednesday. His visit will extend through Thursday.

Melendez drew some prelminary interest from Indianapolis following his Pro Day and could be grabbed in the late rounds or possibly as an undrafted free agent. But the interest from two teams with high-powered offenses -- the Colts and the Chiefs -- certainly reflects well on Melendez.

He caught 40 passes for 584 yards and two touchdowns his senior year. We'll have more on Melendez later this week in a feature article.
