Colts add Tim Jennings with second pick

The Indianapolis Colts shifted their focus to defense with their second round selection of Georgia cornerback Tim Jennings.

The Colts' first two picks were used on cornerbacks last year, and they continued their quest to bolster their secondary by choosing Georgia cornerback Tim Jennings with their second choice in the 2006 draft.

Jennings is a lightning quick cornerback, 4.32 40-yard dash, who led the Bulldogs' seventh ranked secondary and was an All-SEC first team selection his senior season. He had 56 tackles, seven stops for losses and four interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

A hard hitter and solid tackler, Jennings plays taller than his size (5-8, 185) and bench presses 375 pounds. He returned 10 interceptions for 194 yards and two touchdowns during his career at Georgia.

His phenomenal speed could indicate a potential impact on the Colts' special teams units. He returned kicks and punts during his career at Georgia and ran back four kicks and two punts for touchdowns during his senior year in high school.

ColtPower's Ed Thompson talked to Jennings agent, Jason Chayut, who said he was, "Ecstatic he was picked by a team like the Colts. He will fit in nicely right away, at minimum, at the nickel position."
