ColtPower has learned from one of our sources that the Colts have re-signed UCLA quarterback David Koral.
The former backup for the Bruins was originally signed as an undrafted free agent right after the NFL Draft to compete with Miami (OH) quarterback Josh Betts for the number three spot on the depth chart behind Peyton Manning. But when the Colts added former Buccaneers quarterback Shaun King to the mix a week ago, Koral was released.
With that decision being reversed so quickly, it could lead to further speculation about Jim Sorgi's health and future in Indianapolis. He missed the Colts' mini-camp due to a shoulder problem and is in the final year of his contract. With the Colts now carrying four quarterbacks on the depth chart behind Manning, it appears they are certainly keeping their options open.
Additionally, ColtPower confirmed with Jack Bechta, the agent for former Iowa Hawkeye Ed Hinkel, that his client has indeed signed a 3-year deal. Friday evening, we referenced a report by the Daily Iowan that claimed that the wide receiver had been added to the roster. If you missed that story, click here to read more details about Hinkel's addition to the roster.
