Sunday's Top Ten Training Camp Notes

ColtPower will provide the top ten things you should know from every day of training camp based on the observations of our reporters and sources in Terre Haute. Freddie Keiaho and Bob Sanders were the hottest topics today.

Sunday's Top Ten Training Camp Notes
1. Third-round pick Freddie Keiaho was the only draft pick not signed as the Colts reported to camp today. The conflict apparently isn't due to any outrageous demands by Keiaho or his agent, but more due to not being able to make their request work within the NFL's rookie salary pool and contract structure restrictions.

2. Don't expect to see Pro Bowl safety Bob Sanders on the field for the first two weeks of camp. He had two surgeries during the offseason to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder and will ease into the action in Terre Haute. But he expects to be ready for the first preseason game.

3. Kicker Adam Vinatieri provided one of the funniest moments of the day when he said that his job is to kick the ball and keep his mouth shut, a subtle reference to his more outspoken predecessor, Mike Vanderjagt who is kicking for Dallas this year.

4. Peyton Manning, as usual, is clearly excited about getting started at camp. He spent a portion of Saturday evening sending text messages via his cell phone to many of the players saying, "Hey, ready for some football? Let's go make it our year!"

5. Corey Simon is pleased that the bulk of the defense is intact, with only David Thornton missing due to free agency. He believes the defense will become closer as a unit. And that will inevitably help them become even more effective than last year.

6. Reggie Wayne made his appearance at camp paying tribute to Edgerrin James, wearing a number 32 Cardinals jersey. Wayne made it clear that he was doing it as a tribute to James, a fellow Miami Hurricane who helped him settle in at Indianapolis, not as a protest over James not being re-signed by the Colts.

7. Linebacker Rob Morris pulled up in his pickup truck with a storage trailer on the back. He said that he and his wife were in the process of moving to a new house and he didn't have time to unload everything thing. Since he still had a bed in the trailer, he joked that he might sneak out at night to sleep in it.

8. Some Colts will be put on the PUP list or released as the signed rookies put them over the roster limit. But there was no hint of who would be impacted as of today. An announcement is expected tomorrow, or word will get out simply through the absence of players at workouts.

9. The Colts brought in quarterback Shaun King after Jim Sorgi missed some offseason camps with a sore shoulder. At this point, it appears that Sorgi will try to participate in this week's workouts and see how it goes.

10. Peyton Manning was so excited to hear that the Colts were able to get Joseph Addai signed in time for camp that he called the rookie on his way to training camp.
