Keiaho Heading to Camp

Aug 1st, 5:03 pm (ET)... It appears that the Colts and the agent for rookie linebacker Freddie Keiaho have been able to work out the issues that were preventing them from reaching an agreement, allowing Keiaho to report to camp.

ColtPower has learned that third-round draft pick Freddie Keiaho is expected to arrive in Terre Haute this evening to join the team at training camp.

While no official announcement of Keiaho's signing has been released by the team, and his agent was unavailable for comment, the fact that Keiaho will be at Rose-Hulman this evening is a strong indicator that the deal is done or imminent.

The expected signing is sure to be a source of excitement for Colts special teams coach Russ Purnell as Keiaho is expected to be an immediate contributor on special teams. Keiaho blocked four kicks during his college career, an impressive stat for a linebacker.

Keiaho is also expected to be Gilbert Gardner's backup on the strongside, and as he told me during our ColtPower Insiders interview feature back in early July, he has been learning the middle linebacker position in the nickel defense.

The rookie out of San Diego State finished his collegiate career with 154 tackles, 98 solo, 2.5 sacks, 17 tackles for losses, one FF, two FR, and four passes defensed.
