Wednesday Night Camp Insider Notes

A large crowd assembled for the Colts first night practice. And they had plenty to talk about by the time the session ended. ColtPower provides you with the highlights of what you should know from tonight's practice!

Colts rookie Freddie Keiaho was up to his old tricks already. Rookie kicker Shane Andrus and veteran Adam Vinatieri were warming up with some pre-practice field goal shots. Each had a kick blocked, one of which was blocked by Keiaho. He blocked four kicks in college.

Rookie running back Joseph Addai sent a buzz through the crowd as he took a handoff, made a couple of moves, spun and broke into the clear for a 45-yard touchdown run.

New Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri was dead-on all night. He didn't miss a kick. The former Patriot made a 38-yard field goal with no time left at the end of the practice, finishing off a 30-second final drive drill. On that final drive, Manning hit Reggie Wayne with a pass to set up the kick.

Peyton Manning had some balls sailing a bit high early on, but as the practice wore on, he looked sharper. He threw a nice touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison to cap off a 60-yard drive. Safety Chris Laskowski broke up a Manning pass intended for tight end Bryan Fletcher.

Dominic Rhodes fumbled after making a catch. Linebacker Cato June scooped it up and returned it for a touchdown.

Jim Sorgi had a good night, hitting one of his favorite targets, tight end Ben Utecht, with three solid passes. He also hit John Standeford with a completion that was noteworthy. Cornerback Kelvin Hayden made a nice play to break up one of Sorgi's attempts.

Manning hooked up with some targets that he doesn't usually get to toss to very often. Aaron Moorehead and tight end Joey Hawkins, got some action with Manning during the practice. So did Manning's roommate at camp, slot receiver Brandon Stokley.

Safety Matt Giordano continues to take full advantage of his time with the first team while Bob Sanders is sidelined. He made a fumble recovery and ran it in for a touchdown. Manning was in position to make a tackle on him, but wisely chose to let him pass rather than risk an injury.

RB Vashon Pearson, DT Montae Reagor, S Antwan Marsh, S Antoine Bethea, WR Montiese Culton, and CB/KR T.J. Rushing did not participate in the practice.
