Friday Morning Camp Insider Notes

The Colts were back at it with a full day of work planned in Terre Haute. What's the latest insider news on the action at Rose-Hulman? ColtPower fills you in with our exclusive report for our Insiders!

In front of another large crowd in Terre Haute, the Colts showed off an interesting lineup during one seven-on-seven drill this morning as defensive lineman Darrell Reid lined up at fullback for a few plays. Reid even caught a swing pass from Peyton Manning. It's unknown if the Colts are seriously looking at using Reid periodically during the season in that capacity, or if they were just trying to work on a few twists for the veteran squad to use in tomorrow's Blue & White controlled scrimmage between the veterans and the rookies.

While some folks wondered if it's worthwhile for the Colts to have so much money tied up in three well-compensated defensive tackles, today was another reminder why that's not a bad idea. Corey Simon became the second defensive tackle to sustain a knee injury during camp despite the team still completing their first week of practices.

Montae Reagor is already sidelined with a sprained knee ligament that will keep him out of action for a couple of weeks. And now Simon had an ice bag on his knee for most of the practice. But from what we could see, the injury doesn't initially look to be too serious. While Simon was sidelined, Darrell Reid worked with the first-team defense this morning.

Other players who missed the whole practice or at least a portion that were new additions since the most recent practices were Sweet Pea Burns, who apparently tweaked his hamstring, weakside linebacker Tyjuan Hagler, safety Chris Laskowski and defensive lineman Justin Brown.

Middle linebacker Gary Brackett was back in action and put a big hit for a loss on rookie running back Joseph Addai during a running play drill. Addai continues to look impressive overall, though.

Manning threw a nifty touchdown pass to tight end Dallas Clark. Even though Clark bobbled the ball after reaching the end zone, an NFL official at the practice ruled it to be good for a touchdown.
