Monday's Top Ten Training Camp Notes

The Colts were back at work on Monday, and ColtPower was there to see how the players are doing as they gear up for their first preseason game this Thursday. Check out our view of the action from Terre Haute.

Seventh-round selection T.J. Rushing was back practicing this morning after missing a few days with a slightly strained groin.

Wide receiver Dan Sheldon, who's hoping to claim at least one of the returns specialist jobs, had a nice over-the-shoulder catch for a touchdown on a toss from Jim Sorgi during the morning session.

Cornerback Marlin Jackson continues to stand out with his physical play as he slammed wide receiver Montiese Culton to the turf after Culton caught a short pass this morning.

Safety Bob Sanders appears to be close to returning to action. Sanders has been working with a trainer during practice and has been running and jumping like he's close to 100 percent.

Rookie cornerback Tanard Davis snagged an interception on a pass intended for Dan Sheldon from Shaun King.

Adam Vinatieri stuck around to do some extra work on field goals after the special teams practice was over. Meanwhile, rookie Shane Andrus looked much better kicking off during today's special teams practice than he did last week.

Rookie center Russ Tanner split time with Jeff Saturday in the morning practice during pass/run drills.

With Mike Doss and Bob Sanders sidelined this morning, Matt Giordano and Dexter Reid were the safeties working with the first unit defense. Mike Doss did some light work with the trainers during the afternoon practice.

Strongside linebacker Gilbert Gardner looks like he's adjusting to his new spot on the defense just fine. He's really made no major mistakes so far and seems to be where he's supposed to be as plays evolve.

If Marlin Jackson is able to wrestle the starting right cornerback job from Jason David, it's going to be interesting to see who emerges as the new nickel back. While David would certainly be a logical pick, Kelvin Hayden and Von Hutchins are having a good camp so far. And once rookie Tim Jennings gets on the field, he could even enter the mix.
