McGann Back on the Field for Colts

August 12, 11:35 a.m. ... Just when it appeared the Colts roster was settling in a bit, they brought back a player that they released earlier this week. And that means someone has been released or reserved to make room for him.

Earlier this week, the Colts released former Temple quarterback Mike McGann to clear space for the addition of former West Virginia safety Jahmille Addae. With the Colts struggling to have enough safeties to put on the field for a game against the Rams, they added both Addae this past week, and former Texan Jammale Lord about ten days ago. Lord saw extensive playing time against the Rams.

But as the team opened their morning practice session in Terre Haute, we spied McGann back out in the mix. So far, we haven't been able to confirm who was released or reserved to bring him back to the roster. But with Dexter Reid suffering a dislocated shoulder in Thursday night's game, it wouldn't be out of the question to see the Colts put him on reserve. Linebacker Kyle Killion also suffered what appeared to be a mild hamstring injury.

A few of the other safeties are making progress and could be on the field this week. As a result, even the most recent addition, Addae, could be a consideration.

We'll continue to monitor the situation in Terre Haute and stay in touch with our network of contacts around the NFL to see what else we can learn about this roster move.
