Thomas Won't Get to Play Former Team

ColtPower has learned that the Indianapolis Colts have waived wide receiver Levon Thomas after adding Marc Boerigter to their roster this week. For Thomas, it's the second consecutive summer that he's been released by the Colts.

In a move with a twinge of irony, Colts wide receiver Levon Thomas was waived by Indianapolis just days before he would get to suit up against his former employer, the New Orleans Saints.

Near the end of July, Thomas was waived by the Saints after spending time on their practice squad last season. But he quickly found employment with the Colts. Indianapolis was familiar with his talent level, and he knew the Colts offense because he spent last summer in Terre Haute trying to land a spot on the Colts' 53-man roster.

An undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech, Thomas was impressive in a preseason matchup against the Bills in 2005 when he caught six passes for 67 yards. In his first preseason action this summer against the Rams, he made a smooth over-the-shoulder catch and scored on a 40-yard pass from Shaun King. Last week against Seattle he had one catch for 15 yards.

The Colts play the Saints in Mississippi on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
