Davis Heads North

Former Tulsa speedster Ashlan Davis was amongst the very crowded field of potential returns specialists who hoped to land a job with the Colts during training camp this season, but now he's heading north to play football.

ColtPower has learned that former Colts receiver Ashlan Davis has agreed to a contract with the Montreal Alouettes and will head north to play in the Canadian Football League this season.

Davis waited until rosters started to settle out in hopes of still landing with a NFL club this season, but even though he drew some interest, he wasn't able to land an offer. Rather than continuing to wait it out, he opted to keep playing football so he could showcase his skills.

Davis returned six kickoffs for touchdowns while at Tulsa, a feat that was unmatched in NCAA history for over thirty years. While he was with the Colts this summer in their training camp, he was given three attempts to display his returns ability during the preseason. He returned a punt for 9 yards and averaged 23 yards per return on two kickoffs.

Veteran Terrence Wilkins won the returns specialist job, averaging 31.3 yards per kickoff return and 17 yards per punt return.
