Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri had a strong day of kicking on Friday at practice, and barring a setback tomorrow after that workout, he'll likely handle his full job duties on Sunday against New York.
The Colts upgraded three players from questionable to probable on their Friday injury report: MLB Gary Brackett (thigh), LB Freddy Keiaho (knee), and TE Ben Utecht. OG Dylan Gandy returned to practice after missing two days due to an abdomen problem.
Although reserve DE Josh Thomas (hip) missed practice on Friday, he's still expected to play this weekend. But starting left cornerback Nick Harper appears unlikely to play, which means that last year's top draft pick, Marlin Jackson, should get the start. Last year's second pick, Kelvin Hayden, would backfill the nickel back role. Jackson played extensively at LCB last week after Harper suffered an injury early in the game against the Jaguars.
In addition to losing DT Corey Simon and S Bob Sanders who were already declared as out, three others will likely be gameday decisions since they haven't practiced all week: WR Brandon Stokley, RT Ryan Diem, and DT Dan Klecko. Diem looks to be the most promising out of the three to be ready. The Colts promoted DT Sweet Pea Burns from the practice squad earlier this week for additional depth for the interior defensive line after Klecko missed practice and it was obvious Simon wouldn't be playing for at least a couple of weeks.
The Jets have had seven players miss practice for the past three days, including their top wide receiver, Laveraneus Coles. For a complete look at Friday's injury report,
