McGann to Return to Colts

ColtPower has learned that former Temple quarterback Mike McGann will be returning to the team for the 2007 football season following a trip overseas.

Mike McGann, who started his association with the Colts earlier this year as a non-roster mini-camp invitee, has signed a reserve/future contract to rejoin the team for 2007.

The Colts also requested an NFL Europe roster exemption for the former Temple quarterback, making him the first player designated for NFLE duty for Indianapolis.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound McGann threw for 1,469 yards during his senior year while he split the quarterbacking duties with three others. He threw just three touchdowns against 13 interceptions while completing 48.8% of his passes during a winless season for the Owls.

But the Colts obviously liked what they saw in McGann, bumping undrafted UCLA quarterback David Koral from the roster right before training camp started to add McGann to the preseason depth chart. McGann was on and off the roster during training camp as the team made some adjustments due to injuries during the preseason.

McGann finished his career at Temple third all-time in passing yards (4,498). He threw for over 200 yards ten times, and for over 300 yards three times in his career.
