Colts Cut Nine On Monday

Tuesday, August 28, 9:00 AM (ET) ... ColtPower has learned that nine players have been notified that they will no longer be with the team as Indianapolis must trim its roster by twelve players by late Tuesday afternoon. Most prominent amongst the cuts was veteran Rick DeMulling.

ColtPower has learned that the following players have been cut by the Indianapolis Colts:

OT Rick DeMulling
WR Aaron Brown
WR Brian Hare
DE Noland Burchette
DT Tom Johnson (waived/injured)
OT Gabe Hall
CB Cedrick Holt
S   Norman LeJeune  (waived/injured)
QB Mike McGann

All of the players except veteran lineman Rick DeMulling and rookie Gabe Hall were amongst the players projected as "at risk" in this feature that was previously published at ColtPower for our subscribers.

Hare, Johnson and McGann were all trying to make the Colts' roster for the second consecutive year. Brown, Burchette, Hall and Holt were all late additions to the roster, while DeMulling and LeJeune were the only players with more than one year of experience in the league who was cut. DeMulling rejoined the Colts as a free agent after a stint with the Detroit Lions where he was eventually dropped to a reserve role. LeJeune was a 7th-round pick by the Eagles in the 2003 NFL Draft and spent time with the Eagles, Titans and Dolphins prior to signing as a free agent with the Colts in February.

The Colts must release three more players by late Tuesday afternoon to meet the league-mandated roster maximum of 75. The team will be able to keep 76 players since they have defensive end Ben Ishola amongst the group. He's an international development practice squad player who doesn't count because he can't be called up to the active roster this season.
