Colts: Thorpe Added, Hall Departs

Wide receiver Cro Thorpe was added to Indianapolis' practice squad on Tuesday while linebacker KaMichael Hall was waived to pursue opportunities elsewhere...

Craphonso Thorpe, who was the team's leading receiver in the preseason, was signed to the Colts' practice squad on Tuesday, providing the team with better depth behind returns specialist and cornerback T.J. Rushing.

Against primarily backup-level talent, Thorpe posted the highest punt return average and kickoff return average on the team during the preseason. His signing to the practice squad may lower the value of recently added RB DeCori Buckingham, who also has experience as a kickoff returns specialist.

The move could also put one of the other Colts receivers on the practice squad in jeopardy as the team is now using three of its eight allocated spots on wide receivers. Before the addition of Thorpe, Trent Shelton and Aaron Brown were already on the squad.

The other five members of the practice squad are QB Josh Betts, OT Gabe Hall, G Travis Leitko, TE Gijon Robinson and Birmingham.

The Colts also reached an injury settlement with rookie linebacker KaMichael Hall out of Georgia Tech, who had been placed on injured reserve. He is now free to negotiate a new deal with another NFL team.

Remaining on their injured reserve list are DT Anthony McFarland, TE Mike Seidman and rookie DB Antonio Smith.
