Mock Munch Favors Defensive Tackles

ColtPower took a look at the latest examples of groupthink displayed on Scout.com's Mock Draft Muncher. Not surprisingly, we discovered that the two most popular choices for the Colts among the various mock drafts were defensive tackles.

Scout.com's Mock Draft Muncher has been updated, now showing 40 mock drafts from around the web.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford remains and overwhelming choice to go to the Detroit Lions as the No. 1 overall pick, and is named in 30 of 40 drafts as the Lions' choice.

When you get down to the Colts, however, the choice seems to be among a pair of defensive tackles, Peria Jerry of Mississippi and Evander Hood of Missouri.

Jerry is mentioned 11 times as the likely pick for the Colts, while Hood is mentioned six times. However, in a more accurate draft simulation, the Colts get Hood after Jerry comes off the board at No. 19, chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jerry has been the favorite for the Colts in the various mock drafts since Scout.com began munching in January. Hood has bounced around, in either second, third or fourth place during that time.

Other popular choices for the Colts at No. 27 include Florida WR Percy Harvin (named in five mocks as of March 16, down from a high of six on March 1), North Carolina WR Hakeem Nicks (named in three mocks, down from a high of four on March 8), and Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis (named in two mocks).

Other players mentioned in at least one mock draft around the web are Illinois CB Vontae Davis, Maryland WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, Vanderbilt CB D.J. Moore, USC DT Fili Moala, Mississippi OT Michael Oher, Georgia RB Knowhon Moreno, Connecticut RB Donald Brown, Auburn DT Sen'Derrick Marks, Arizona OT Eben Britton, Pittsburgh RB LeSean McCoy, Missouri WR Jeremy Maclin, and Connecticut CB Darius Butler.
