NOTES: This update gives a few minor changes. First, Roy Hall was placed on the injured/waived list, cleared waivers and was placed on injured reserve. Thus, he is no longer on the 53-man roster, and Taj Smith takes his place at receiver. Another receiver to watch in the coming weeks is Sam Giguere, who was activated from the PUP list and will try to make his case in the final three preseason games.
On the offensive line, Corey Hilliard, after a horrific performance in the preseason opener, was dropped in favor of Daniel Federkeil, a more versatile player. Tight end Tom Santi was also dropped from this update, simply because he hasn't been healthy enough to practice or play and cannot be evaluated. Another oft-injured tight end, Jacob Tamme, keeps his spot by being a better receiver and because he can long-snap as well. Ideally, I'd like to see Tamme be the long-snapper and the team release Snow to free up a roster spot, but that's unlikely to happen.
On the defensive line, Keyunta Dawson is back in the mix, simply because he's been so involved that it's difficult to see the Colts parting with him. The final DL roster spot came down to Eric Foster vs. Adrian Grady, and Grady wins out — for now.
As for the rest of the defense, only five linebackers made the cut this round, although it's likely that either Jordan Senn or Freddy Keiaho makes the final roster. Two defensive backs were added: Matt Giordano — who was the final cut from the first roster and showed his value with a fine performance in the first preseason game — and T.J. Rushing, who is the most experienced returner on the roster. Nick Graham is another pushing for a roster spot, but got caught in the numbers game here.
Once again, this is a work in progress and subject to evolution.
