2003 League Calendar

A look at all of the important dates in the upcoming 2003 NFL Season. The Cowboys will open the season against the Atlanta Falcons at Texas Stadium on September 7th. Training camp begins next weekend in San Antonio.


Mid-July -- Training camps open. Veteran players cannot be required to report earlier than 15 days prior to club's first preseason game or July 15, whichever is later.

July 22 -- Signing period ends at 4:00 PM ET for unrestricted free agents who received June 1 tender.

July 26th -- The Cowboys begin training cap in San Antonio, Texas.

August 2 -- American Bowl, Tokyo, Japan – New York Jets vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (ESPN2/ESPN).

August 4 -- Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, Canton, Ohio – Green Bay Packers vs. Kansas City Chiefs (ABC).

August 7-11 -- First full preseason weekend.

August 26 -- Roster cutdown to maximum of 65 players.

August 31 -- Roster cutdown to maximum of 53 players.

September 1 -- Clubs may establish practice squad of five players.

September 4-8 -- Kickoff 2003 Weekend. The Cowboys face Mike Vick and the Atlanta Falcons at Texas Stadium on September 7th at 3:15 Central Time.

October 14 -- Trading deadline.

October 28-30 -- NFL Fall Meeting, Chicago, Illinois.

December 27-28 -- Regular season ends.


January 3-4 -- Wild Card Weekend.

January 10-11 -- Divisional Playoffs.

January 18 -- Conference Championships.

February 1 -- Super Bowl XXXVIII, Houston, Texas (CBS).

February 8 -- AFC-NFC Pro Bowl, Honolulu, Hawaii (ABC).

February 18-24 -- Scouting Combine, Indianapolis, Indiana.

March 28-April 1 -- NFL Annual Meeting, Palm Beach, Florida.

April 24-25 -- NFL Draft, New York City.
