The NFL Calendar has made it's way to the opening of the scouting combine, but NFL vets are what we're still talking about. Mike Fisher joins KD Drummond to discuss the possibility of Dallas making a trade for Cleveland's in-rehab quarterback, Johnny Manziel. Also, Stephen Jones again reiterated Dallas' plans to franchise tag Dez Bryant, what does that mean for the rest of free agency?
*We keep you posted on the latest with Dez Bryant and a deal. How to accomplish the structure of the Cowboys' long-term deal with him. ... How close Dallas and Bryant have been to a contract (in October, according to sources, some of the ancillary paperwork was being worked up inside Valley Ranch). ... Fish's column here on The "Dez vs. Cowboys Counterpunching'' that is part of the public exchange.
Coach Jason Garrett made his position clear yesterday at the Scouting Combine in Indy.
"The biggest thing that everyone needs to know is how much we appreciate Dez Bryant and the kind of football player we think he is," Garrett said. "Obviously his impact is huge. He's one of those guys that 60, 65 times a game he breaks the huddle and the defense is looking for No. 88. He's a rare guy that way and for him to have the production that he's had to this point in his career has been remarkable because he's been getting that kind of attention from Day 1. We love Dez. We believe he's the right kind of guy. He loves football. He loves being a part of the Cowboys."
