Cowboys Nation's Week 10 Rooting Guide: Who Needs To Lose

The Cowboys need a lot of help to get back in the playoff race. Here's today's collection of teams that are "friendly" to Dallas. ... Cowboys Nation's Week 10 Rooting Guide!

Earlier in the week, we laid out the difficult path the Cowboys would have to follow to qualify for the tournament. They are far from in control of their own destiny, in addition to trying to do a better job of corralling their mounting frustration. (Fish's Cowboys Premium piece here is the best thing you'll read on Dez Bryant's locker-room blowup - and it's complete with guidance from Dez himself.) The bad news is the team has started to come apart at the seams; the good news is to this point, as they await next week's virtually-for-certain return of Tony Romo, their effort in-game can’t be questioned. They are simply coming up wanting.

Now the Cowboys need to do their thing in Tampa today (see "Cowboys 100'' for all the numbers) and they need other teams to lose, and although scenarios change as the weeks go, we have a good idea of the result that would be most beneficial. Here’s your Week 10 Rooting Guide to help you work your clicker out on Sunday.

New Orleans @Washington

Pick'Em

50.5

This is the biggest matchup outside the Cowboys own, as the Saints (4-5) travel to Washington (3-5). While the first objective for the Cowboys to make the playoffs is to win the East, they need the Saints to lose in case they are in the hunt for a Wild Card game. Dallas has two games remaining against Washington and need to handle their own business to leapfrog the team with a nickname we shall not speak. ROOT FOR: WASHINGTON

Arizona @ Seattle

Seattle (-3)

44

The next biggest matchup for Dallas. A tough one to decide. Due to Dallas' loss to Seattle (4-4), they need to pass them in the standings for a wild card shot. However, if Seattle wins the West, then other tie-breaker procedures would come into play with Arizona (6-2) other than head-to-head. This is one where things could change as the season progresses, but for now, root for Seattle to go down. ROOT FOR: ARIZONA

Chicago @ St. Louis

Rams (-7)

42.5

Easy call here. The Bears (3-5) are above Dallas in the standing, but the Rams (4-4) look like the much stronger club. In addition, out of the teams considered playoff contenders, St. Louis has the weakest remaining schedule (Opp. Win% .464), so an upset or two along the way is a must from a Dallas point of view. Detroit @ Green Bay

Packers (-11)

49.5

Yes, the Lions (1-7) are the only NFC team with a worse record than the Cowboys and the Packers (6-2) are a long ways away. However, something seems off in Green Bay. Currently tied with the Vikings for first place in the NFCN, it's probably a pipe dream one of the two will falter to the point of coming back to the pack, but it might as well be the Pack. Eagles (-6.5)

Easy rooting here. Eagles (4-4) look primed to be on a three-game win streak before they face the Patriots. They need to lose and lose often. Go Miami (3-5). ROOT FOR: MIAMI

::facepalm:: Go Patriots (8-0). Quickest road to the playoffs is winning the division. This is a must-lose for the Giants (5-4) for Dallas to have a realistic shot. ROOT FOR: NEW ENGLAND
