Out with the old, in with the new.
The "old''? Brandon Carr's bloated contract, which our Mike Fisher reported on Monday is now torn up and replaced by a new deal that creates $3.6 million of cap room for the Cowboys and does not contain an extension. Carr's new salary number is $4.25 million, half the $9.1 million that he was scheduled to make previously under that five-year, $50 million deal he signed in 2012 as a free agent.
CHQ is told that the Carr move shouldn't be taken as anything tied to what Dallas will do at the top of the draft. (See "Jerry, Stephen And Jason Between the Lines'' for the presser in which Jalen Ramsey and Ezekiel Elliott were the two jump-out names.)
Speaking of the NFL Draft ... As part of our continuing series of draft shows leading up to Thursday, today Bobby Belt welcomes Kyle Crabbs to CowboysCast. Kyle is the founder of NDT Scouting and he serves as its Director of Scouting as well.
As we’ve led up to the draft, everyone has analyzed who the Cowboys will take at 4 from every possible angle. But who are some diamonds in the rough that Cowboys fans should watch for later in the draft?
Kyle is expertly equipped to answer, having recently released his 300+ page draft guide, which you can check out at NDTScouting.com.
Give it a listen and get caught up on some of the lesser-known names for Friday and Saturday.
