The Dallas Cowboys are "off'' ... but not inactive.
They are leaving Valley Ranch to go to The Star at Frisco, their new HQ ... and in between, of course, they are packing for Oxnard and training camp in California. Tucked in here somewhere, as Dez Bryant told us last week, there is time for Dez and Tony Romo to pitch-and-catch. And there are vacation plans and organization plans and, you hope, with all this idle time, no plans to let any players' hands be the devil's workshop, if you know what I mean.
So how do we all plan our summer? Something like this:
Thurs., July 28: Team Charter arrives at Pt. Mugs -- and CowboysHQ.com's Mike Fisher joins them.
Fri., July 29: Opening press conference (11:00 a.m. PDT, live on 105.3 The Fan)
Sat., July 30: First practice – full roster (3:45 p.m. PDT)
Sun., Aug. 7: Blue/White Scrimmage (2:30 p.m. PDT, live on 105.3 The Fan)
Sat., Aug. 13: Dallas @ Los Angeles (7:00 p.m. CDT, nationally televised and, as Fish has noted, "The Super Bowl of Preseason Games, given the NFL's return to LA and Jerry Jones' involvement in the move.)
Thurs., Aug. 18: Break camp in Oxnard – travel to Dallas ... and move into The Star.
Fri., Aug. 19: Dallas vs. Miami (7:00 p.m. CDT) AT&T Stadium (live on 105.3 The Fan)
Thurs., Aug. 25: Dallas at Seattle (9:00 p.m. CDT, live on 105.3 The Fan)
Thurs., Sept. 1: Dallas vs. Houston (7:00 p.m. CDT) AT&T Stadium (live on 105.3 The Fan)
All of this leads up to a regular season that Cowboys fans hope is a special one. "Championship contention''? As COO Stephen Jones tells us here, yes, that's the plan.
