Cowboys Top 5 needs

Pass rusher: The Cowboys helped address this need by taking Taco Charlton at No. 28. Don’t rule out the Cowboys taking more pass rush help either Friday or Saturday.  Oh, and the story from inside the War Room on how the pick came about, and how Dallas wants these days viewed?

Fish has the scoop.

Cornerback: The losses of Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne mean the Cowboys need to bolster the depth behind their top three corners, Orlando Scandrick, Nolan Carroll and Anthony Brown. The fact that the Cowboys passed on corners in the first round means, ideally, they would address this need on Friday.

Safety: The Cowboys lost Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox. They say they’re happy with Jeff Heath starting alongside Byron Jones. We’ll see. But there are opportunities in this draft to improve depth and competition.

Offensive tackle: The retirement of Doug Free means there will be competition at right tackle. The Cowboys could find a tackle that adds fuel to that competition. If the Cowboys address this need it will likely be on Day 3.

Tight end: Jason Witten is extended through the end of the decade. James Hanna, Geoff Swaim and Rico Gathers are on the roster. But don’t rule out another addition to a position the Cowboys value. Seems like a Day 3 need if Cowboys want to address it.
