Payton Goes in for Interview #2

The Oakland Raiders appear to be serious about bringing in Cowboys' assistant Sean Payton as their next head coach. According to sources close to the situation, Payton went in for a second interview with the Raiders Sunday evening.

Payton, who has been credited for helping turn around the career of the often maligned Quincy Carter, has been said to be one of the front runners for the job in Oakland.

After interviewing for the job initially back on January 12th, Payton was then brought in for another interview Sunday evening after returning home from a family vacation in Florida.

The Raiders have also shown interest in Cowboys' offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon, Chiefs' offensive Coordinator Al Saunders (who has taken his name out of consideration), and former Washington Huskies head coach Rick Neuheisel.

Oakland owner Al Davis fired head coach Bill Callahan after the team finished 4-12 with several aging stars in wide receivers Tim Brown and Jerry Rice, and quarterback Rich Gannon.
