Sean Taylor: Ran a 4.50-area with a tweaked his right hamstring. Dennis Green and Ted Cotrell said Taylor was the best of all the Hurricanes.
Vince Wilfork: Again, Dennis Green was impressed with his athleticism. Ran in the 5.0/5.1 area.
Vernon Carey: Cleveland loves him and ranks him as number one guard. Impressed with agility and weight loss. Weighed in at 332-pounds and benched 225 30-times. 13-on wonderlic. Bill Bellicheck is setting up a meeting. Ran a 5.18/5.28. 10-yd split was 1.76.
Jason Geathers: 4.45-40 and 14-reps on bench. Good workouts
Jarrett Payton: Timed at 4.46-4.53 (scouts impressed with speed). Giants are interested.
Kevin Beard: 4.46/4.55 range
Alfonso Marshall: Low 4.4's and 11 reps at 225 Redskins/Indianapolis/Jacksonville/NO/Cleveland all setting up meetings.
Maurice Sikes: 4.53/4.55/4.58 in forty with 12-reps on bench. Good in drills but a prior shoulder injury has caused concern.
Kellen Winslow: Jaguars/Redskins/Detroit setting up visits. Two times were 4.47/4.55.
Carlos Joseph: Down to 338-pounds after weighing in at 345 during combine and ran a 5.20. Scored a 7 on the wonderlic at the combine, same as his brother.
Jonathan Vilma: 4.58-forty and benched 225 23-times
D.J. Williams: Ran in the mid-4.5's. Had a strained pec and did not bench.
More Teams and coaches on hand;
Marvin Lewis, Marty Schottenheimer, Jim Haslett, Dom Capers, Jack Del Rio, Tom Coughlin, Dennis Green, and Joe Gibbs. Two members of the Steelers were in attendance -- what one league source said was, "the least represented team in the NFL."
It's been a mixed bag of sorts thus far. Our man in Coral Gables has given us some unofficial times just run earlier today. Kellen Winslow Jr. ran a 4.50 while Jonathan Vilma turned in a 4.58. Sean Taylor tweaked an ankle/hamstring and turned in a pedestrian 4.5. The fastest time reported thus far was by little used linebacker Jerrell Weaver. The 6-2/205 defender who posted seven tackles last season turned in a 4.36.
